Today is Thanksgiving in the United States. Symbolically, this is a day where we come together over dinner to celebrate and give thanks for all that we have. Thanksgiving is a time to show appreciation, share and give back. As this year quickly comes to an end I have much to be thankful for. I’d like to show gratitude for:
I love me! Not in a narcissistic egotistical way, but I genuinely love who I am and who I constantly strive to be. I am thankful for the evolution of me.
2. My Travels
I love to travel but I typically have too little time or too little money to travel the way I’d like. This year I used up most of my work leave and really saved to spend two-weeks in Costa Rica. There is just something about being in other societies that greatly differ from my own. Travelling helps me to reflect, makes me more appreciative and open to the world around.
As much as I’d love to work for myself and be a true entrepreneur in every sense of the word, I’m not there yet. Like so many, I get up and go to a job most days of the week. Though I am not doing work that I love, I appreciate where I work, which says a lot in today’s corporate world. My job allows me to survive day-to-day and gives me the breadth to pursue my dreams. It is my stepping-stone to becoming an entrepreneur and for that I am thankful.
4. Family and Friends
Loved ones are so dear. They make me happy; they drive me crazy, but I wouldn’t change them for the world because through our shared love I know they will always be there. If we don’t talk for years, I could ask them for help tomorrow and they would. I am truly grateful for those I hold dear in my life.
5. Unconditional Love
I have said it before: Love is one of the most beautiful expressions. I am constantly reminded of the amount of ugliness that exists in the world. It shows me how cruel and unfair it can be. Although, in that same vein I am reminded of the beauty it has to offer. Love is constantly working to counteract hate and despair. And so, I am thankful for all of the love people emit in an otherwise jaded world.
6. My Blog!
I am very proud of myself for launching this blog because it is something I’ve wanted to do for some time now. It allows me to interact with you and the rest of the world in a new way. It is a dream turned reality and I am very proud of myself for it. This blog is a labor of love, to say the least, but I am thankful for the ability to see it through.

7. The People
Of course, I am thankful for all of the above, but I am also thankful for those less prominent people, roles and moments for their indelible impressions on me. This post gives homage to those everyday people and occurrences that have planted seeds of possibility. To the young man who was genuinely concerned about my well being when I seem troubled. To the inquisitive little girl who said, “I love your color”. To the elderly man who wished me well during our brief chat in the supermarket line. To the women who have shared in compliments. To the toddlers who waved hello with sweet smiles and bright eyes. To any and every virtuous individual who have given sincere thoughts of encouragement—THANK YOU!
On this day I hope that you have many reasons to be thankful.
Heck—I’m thankful you read this far. Cheers!
