I just love the feeling from a great workout; it is an unparalleled high that helps to align the mind and body. Aside from benefits doctors' give for exercising, for me, it has a spiritual component similar to mediation, which I also enjoy. It clears my head of the ever-flowing thoughts of my mind. Like a computer with several windows up, with multiple tabs open on each—that’s my brain.
That post workout feeling makes me feel like a superwoman; I feel like I can accomplish anything (at least, until the endorphins die down). In those moments, it gives me heightened mental and physical confidence where I have capabilities within myself to make things happen, things I can feel good about doing. It serves as inspiration for myself.
I apply what I have learned from exercising to other areas of my life.
Exercise teaches me to be flexible.
I enjoy trying new exercise routines to challenge myself. However, when I cannot complete a new routine, I modify it to meet my current abilities and, then, work toward mastering that skill.
Working out gives me strength.
It gives me that push to build myself up in unimaginable ways. It better prepares me for those moments of weakness. I am strong because I have been weak.
Regular exercise conditions me to do better.
By committing to an active lifestyle, I promise myself that I will work toward progress and the betterment of me.
Staying fit reinforces the love within myself.
Taking the initiative to focus on my well-being proves what I am willing to do for the love of self.
Exercise encourages patience.
It takes time to notice a difference from working out regularly whether it is in physique, mental health, strength or flexibility. Being humble, but persistent is important. If at first, you don’t succeed try, try again.
You get out of it what you put into it.
The positive time and energy I have invested into myself has returned to me over time in ways that I have previously mentioned. I just keep at it and trust in the powers of the universe.
